Trailfinders is a travel company in the United Kingdom and is notable for being the largest independently owned travel company in the United Kingdom. Trailfinders has 28 travel centres and there used to be four in Australia before they were all closed due to lack in profit. The company specialises in tailormade travel worldwide.

Trailfinders was founded in 1970 by former SAS-officer Mike Gooley [1] with a staff of four. The company remains privately owned but today has a staff of over 950 and has made travel arrangements for over 11 million clients.

Trailfinders was Voted Best Specialist Travel Organiser by readers of the Daily Telegraph in 2007 and has previously been awarded Best Specialist Independent Travel Company every year since the inception of the Telegraph travel awards.[citation needed] Also in 2007 they were awarded Best Tour Operator in The Guardian, The Observer and Guardian Unlimited Travel Awards and have previously won the Best Travel Agent category on seven separate occasions.[citation needed] In a 2011 poll of the best holiday companies, Which? magazine readers decided upon Trailfinders and Kuoni as their joint favourite holiday tour operators.[2]

Trailfinders is considered a very reliable company and has built up a good reputation in the United Kingdom and Ireland.[3]

Mike Gooley also owns Bloomfield Lodge, a boutique lodge set between the Daintree Rainforest and Great Barrier Reef in Far North Queensland, Australia.

Trailfinders saw 2011 become its most profitable year yet, despite the 'credit crunch'. There are plans to open up an office in Liverpool and is soon to open a centre in Chester.
