Taylor Armstrong (born Shana Hughes; June 10, 1971[1]) is an American television personality and philanthropist. She is best-known for her role on the reality show The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

Early life[edit]

Armstrong was born Shana Hughes, but has changed her name several times; she has also been known as "Shana Taylor" and "Taylor Ford".[2] She was born in Independence, Kansas and moved to Beverly Hills in 2005.

Career[edit]

She serves as Chief Creative Director of BeautyTicket.com and volunteers for the 1736 Family Crisis Center; she has been an advocate for victims of domestic violence since 2004.

Armstrong's first major TV appearance was on the Bravo TV series The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in 2010 while married to former venture capitalist Russell Armstrong. During the series, other cast members brought to light the couple's alleged money troubles and claims of spousal abuse. After the truth about their marriage came out, Russell took his own life and was found by his landlord and Taylor on August 15, 2011.[3] That September, Taylor alleged that she had suffered severe physical abuse during her marriage.[4] Prior to appearing on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills she made a cameo appearance on the MTV TV show The Hills.

Armstrong's memoir, Hiding from Reality: My Story of Love, Loss, and Finding the Courage Within, was released February 7, 2012.[5]

Taylor will make limited appearances during the fourth season of the The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. [6]

Personal life[edit]

Taylor and Russell married in 2005; their daughter Kennedy Caroline was born in 2006.

In 2011, Armstrong filed for divorce, accusing her husband of domestic violence. In the midst of these allegations, as well as claims of creditors were made public, Russell committed suicide. Some members of Armstrong's family denied Taylor's claims of abuse. She then said she had to have a titanium mesh implant implanted to hold up her right eye because of Russell's abuse.[7]

In 2012, Armstrong started dating her attorney, John Bluher, who was married at the time. Bluher left his wife, and his engagement to Armstrong was announced on August 23, 2013 after [8] Bluher proposed to Armstrong while the couple were on vacation in Punta Mita;[8] and they married in Pacific Palisades on April 4, 2014.[9]
