Sharon Farrell (born December 24, 1940) is an American television and film actress.

Born as Sharon Forsmoe in Sioux City, Iowa,[1] she made her acting debut at age 18 in the 1959 film Kiss Her Goodbye. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, Farrell appeared in such films as The Reivers (1969), Marlowe (1969), and It's Alive (1974), Night of the Comet, The Stunt Man.[2] She took her stage name combining her father's name Darrel with "F" for Forsmoe with two "L"s[3]

In addition to film work, Farrell also appeared in guest roles on various television shows including Death Valley Days, The Man from U.N.C.L.E, The Beverly Hillbillies and Hawaii Five-O. She also had roles in Out of the Blue (1980), and Can't Buy Me Love (1987). In 1991, she joined the cast of the long-running soap opera The Young and the Restless. She remained with the show until 1996. Farrell's most recent role was on a 1999 episode of JAG.[2]

Personal life[edit]

Farrell's first marriage was to actor Andrew Prine.[4] The couple married in 1962. They later divorced reportedly after only living together for one month and ten days.[5]

Farrell has one son, Chance Boyer. After Chance's birth, Farrell suffered an embolism which caused her heart to stop beating for four minutes. She ended up with serious brain damage that resulted in memory loss and physical impairments. With the help of colleagues, Farrell worked to regain her abilities, including her memory, and resumed her acting career yet she kept her illness a secret under the advice of friend and actor Steve McQueen who warned her that if word of her illness came out, her career would be over.[4][6] Subsequently, however, in 1968 she was in The Wild, Wild West episode "Night of the Amnesiac" and in 1974 she guest starred on The Six Million Dollar Man in "A Stranger in Broken Fork" in which she played a psychologist who comes to the assistance of Col. Steve Austin who is suffering from amnesia after a plane crash.[2]

Personal life[edit]

She later married director Dale Trevillian.[4] In 2012, Farrell announced that she is working on her autobiography Hollywood Princess from Sioux City, Iowa, which she plans to pitch to publishers.[1] The book was published in December of 2013. She published Hollywood Princess From Sioux City, Iowa and it is now listed on both and[2]
