Sam Joseph Martin (born February 27, 1990) is an American football Punter for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Lions in the 5th round (165th overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft. He played college football for the Appalachian State Mountaineers.

Early years[edit]

He was lettered for soccer for four-years and also was received all-state recognition in his junior season in high school.[1]

College career[edit]

In his Senior season, He was selected to the Associated Press All-American First team.[1] He also was named to the first-team all-America by College Sports Journal and third-team all-America by The Sports Network in his Senior season.[1]
