Riverside most notably became a tourist attraction in the early 20th century due to the presence of Crescent Park Amusement Park, known as the “Coney Island of New England”. Looff Carousel remains.

An early 1900's mental facility in Riverside Rhode Island has been cited (since removed) as the actual location of events that take place in John Katzenbach's 'Based on actual event' horror novel "A Mad Mans Tale". Citing was ordered removed by the State due to lack of Historical Record.
