Ridiculousness is an American comedy clip show that began airing on August 29, 2011. On television, the show is rated TV-14 due to language and violence, hosted by Rob Dyrdek and co-hosted by Sterling "Steelo" Brim and Chanel West Coast. Ridiculousness shows various viral videos from the Internet. Similar in fashion to the Bob Saget-era of America's Funniest Home Videos, Rob makes mock commentary on the subjects of said videos. Unlike AFHV and other viewer-submitted video programs, Ridiculousness producers, as well as the show's network, MTV, do not take viewer-submitted videos of people performing dangerous stunts as indicated in their beginning and ending disclaimers.

Production[edit]

Ridiculousness was announced on March 1, 2011, with the fourth season premiere date of Fantasy Factory.[1] On October 17, 2011, the series was renewed for a second season.[2] It premiered on April 30, 2012.[3]

On September 10, 2012, Ridiculousness was renewed for a twenty episode third season.[4][5] It premiered on February 14, 2013,[6] and included a crossover with Jersey Shore when Pauly D guest-starred. The season would later go into hiatus in April 2013 and return on July 18, 2013.[7] Season 3 averaged a 1.6 P12-34 rating and is the No.1 original cable series in its time slot with P12-34.[8]

It was announced on September 17, 2013, that Ridiculousness has been renewed for a twenty-two episode fourth season.[8] Season 4 premiered on January 2, 2014.[9]

Reception[edit]

Ridiculousness has been met with generally negative reviews. David Wiegand of the San Francisco Chronicle stated, "The best thing about watching (viral videos) online is that you don't have to listen to Dyrdek's patter or the stellar contributions of his guests... the bigger danger is in watching the show in the first place: You might die of boredom. In other words, don't try this at home."[79]
