The surname Rasmussen Danish pronunciation: [ˈʁɑsmusn] (cognate Rasmusen) is a Danish and Norwegian surname, meaning "Rasmus' son" (the first name "Rasmus" is equivalent of "Erasmus"). It is the ninth most common surname in Denmark, shared by about 1.9% of the population.[1]
