Ortrud is a female character from Richard Wagner's opera Lohengrin (1848).

Ortrud was originally written for a soprano, as stated in the first edition vocal score by Breitkopf und Härtel, n.d.[1852]. Plate 8411. The role was created by the German soprano Josephine Fastlinger. Although this may prove a highlying role for many mezzo sopranos it is equally often sung by a mezzo soprano as a dramatic soprano.
