These are lists of the busiest airports in the United States. The U.S.'s busiest airport is Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport and in 2013 it handled 45,308,685 passengers or approximately 124,000 a day.

Busiest US airports by total passenger boardings[edit]

The FAA uses passenger boarding for a full calendar year to determine AIP entitlements. The term hub is used by the FAA to identify very busy commercial service airports. For instance, large hubs are those airports that each account for at least one percent of total U.S. passenger enplanements. Medium hubs are defined as airports that each account for between 0.25 percent and one percent of the total passenger enplanements.

In Calendar year 2013 (preliminary FAA data) there were 30 Large Hubs and 33 Medium Hubs.

30 busiest US airports by total passenger traffic (2013)[edit]

Listed according to data compiled by Airports Council International North America, and ranked according to total passengers during 2013.[10]

This list has the same 30 airports as the FAA list, but the order is slightly different. The FAA ranks by passengers boarding. ACI ranks by sum of boarding, disembarking, and flying through without leaving airplane. The statistics are slightly more than twice as high.
