The list of best-selling hip hop albums in the United States compiles the best-selling albums in the Nielsen SoundScan era (1991–onward). Sales prior to 1991 are not taken into account. According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), seven hip hop albums exceeded 10 million in sales.
