Lisa Jakub (born December 27, 1978)[citation needed] is a Canadian-American writer, and a former child actress. She is best known for her roles in Mrs. Doubtfire as Lydia Hillard and Independence Day as Alicia Casse.

Early life and career[edit]

Jakub was born in Toronto, Ontario. She is of Slovak (father) and Welsh and Scottish (mother) descent.[1]

Her first role was in the 1985 film Eleni. She later appeared in Mrs. Doubtfire, played Sandra in Matinee, appeared in A Pig's Tale and Independence Day, The Beautician and the Beast and played the "inspiration" for Princess Leia in the short film George Lucas in Love. She starred in Picture Perfect (1995) and portrayed a bordello worker in the American Old West in Painted Angels (1997).

Personal life[edit]

After retiring from acting in 2001 at the age of 22,[2] Jakub moved to Virginia and married longtime partner, a former Hollywood theater manager, Jeremy Jones.[3]

Jakub has publicly stated that she has no plans to return to acting.[4] She is currently a blogger and writer and has penned her memoir You Look Like That Girl which is due for release in 2015.[5] She has written about her experiences as a child actor.[6] When Lisa got the part of Lydia in "Mrs. Doubtfire" her school kicked her out.[7]
