The Lehigh Valley Phantoms will be a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League (AHL), who will begin play in the 2014–15 AHL season. The Phantoms will be based in Allentown, Pennsylvania, playing home games in Allentown's new downtown arena, the PPL Center.[1] They will be the top affiliate of the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers.

The franchise began in Philadelphia in 1996 as the Philadelphia Phantoms. They moved to Glens Falls, New York in 2009 as the Adirondack Phantoms.

In March 2011, plans were announced for the PPL Center. The arena is planned to be located in downtown Allentown taking up the entire block between 7th and 8th St. and Hamilton Blvd. and Linden St. Demolition at the arena site began in January 2012.[2]
