Lee Tae-min (Hangul: ; Hanja: ; born July 18, 1993) is a South Korean idol singer, dancer, actor, promotional model, presenter and radio host. He is a member of South Korean boy group Shinee under the label of SM Entertainment, as the main dancer and vocalist.

Biography

He studied Chinese in Beijing in 2007. In March 2011, Taemin transferred to Seoul Arts High School from his previous school, Chung Dam High School to accommodate his hectic schedule for Shinee’s Japanese advancement.[2] He graduated in February 2012 but was unable to make it to the ceremony due to SHINee activities.

Career

Taemin was discovered at the 2005 S.M. Open Weekend Audition Casting. In 2008, he was chosen as a member of the group Shinee, the 5-member boy group debuted on May 25, 2008 on SBS's Inkigayo."[3]

Solo

In 2009, he played "Goodbye My Love" on piano with 8Eight singing. In 2010, he rapped "Introduce Me a Good Person“ with Key and SNSD's Yoona for SNSD's 1st Asian Tour “Into The New World” in Shanghai. For the "Korean Music Wave In Bangkok 2012" he had a special stage performance with IU. They sang Gee, Juliette and Hello. [4] To support fellow labelmate, BoA, he danced with her for her comeback stage of "Only One", and several times more after. [5] It was recently announced that Taemin will release a solo track for the drama To The Beautiful You. The said track is entitled "U" and will be released on 19th September. [6]

Acting

Taemin debuted as an actor as Lee Junsu in the sitcom Taehee-Hyegyo-Jihyun! (Korean: "태희혜교지현이!").[7] He later played Kim Sung Jae on Moon Night 90 with group member, Key.

Taemin has done cameo/appearances in tv dramas or sitcoms like Athena, High Kick! 3 and Salamander Guru and The Shadows.

Voice Acting

In December 2011, Taemin took part as voice actor for the Korean animated movie called The Outback as the main character, Johnny, a white koala turned hero, along with fellow labelmate, Girls' Generation's Sunny.[8]

Television shows

Taemin has appeared on television shows such as Idol Maknae Rebellion as a guest star alongside his Shinee group mates Key, Jonghyun, and Onew in several episodes. He appeared together with other idol group members, including Dongho from U-KISS, Shorry J from Mighty Mouth, Jinwoon from 2AM, Yunhwa from T-Max, Seunghyun from F.T. Island, and Mir from MBLAQ.

In January 2012, Taemin join Immortal Song 2[9] and made history as the first singer since “Immortal Song 2” broadcast to have a tie among the participants. At that time, Taemin performed "Mapo Terminal" from Silver Bell Sister and competed with musical actor Im Taekyung, both garnered 376 votes.[10]
