Laura Allison Wasser (born May 23, 1968) is an American high profile attorney specializing in celebrity divorce cases.


Early life

She was born in Los Angeles. She spent one year abroad in high school attending The American School in Switzerland. She attended University of California, Berkeley and earned a law degree from Loyola Law School in 1994.

Celebrity divorce cases

She has handled a number of high profile, high net worth dissolutions, including those for Heidi Klum, Kim Kardashian, Ryan Reynolds, Angelina Jolie, Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder, Kiefer Sutherland, Spike Jonze, Nick Lachey, Kelis, Britney Spears, Jimmy Iovine, Peter Getty, Anna Faris, Alexander Payne, Patricia Arquette, Kate Walsh, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Kenny G, Ashlee Simpson, Ann Lopez in her divorce from George Lopez, Robyn Moore in her divorce from husband Mel Gibson, Karen Caufield in her divorce from billionaire Frank Caufield, Slash in his divorce from Perla Farrar, Linkin Park's Chester Bennington, Offspring's Dexter Holland, Korn's Jonathan Davis and members of Tool as well as numerous undisclosed sealed celebrity prenuptial agreements and paternity matters.

On May 19, 2011, the Boston Herald reported that Wasser was retained by Maria Shriver after her separation from Arnold Schwarzenegger due to his admitted affair with a former housekeeper, who later gave birth to his child.[1]

On October 31, 2011, she filed a divorce petition on behalf of Kim Kardashian, seeking to dissolve Kim's two-month marriage to Kris Humphries.[citation needed]

On December 16, 2011, indicated that she filed divorce paperwork for Vanessa Bryant, wife of NBA superstar Kobe Bryant.[citation needed]

Media appearances

In 2010, Wasser was featured in Elle, Vogue and Flair magazines.[2] She also served as an on-set legal consultant for the movie, Liar Liar.
