Krewella is an American electronic dance music group from Chicago, Illinois, formed in 2007.[1] The group consists of Jahan Yousaf, Yasmine Yousaf and Rain Man.[1] Their EP, Play Hard was released on June 18, 2012 exclusively on Beatport followed by an iTunes release on June 26, 2012.[2] Their debut album, Get Wet, was released on the 24th of September, 2013 on iTunes.[3] Their musical style draws upon house, dubstep, hardstyle and drum and bass.

Musical career[edit]

Krewella, formed in 2007, consists of songwriting/vocalist sisters Jahan and Yasmine Yousaf accompanied by producer Kris "Rain Man" Trindl.[4] Their music is a blend of self-produced electro house and dubstep, with influences of many other EDM styles. In June 2012, Krewella released their EP Play Hard. The album rose to #1 on Billboard’s Dance Radio Airplay[5] chart and the single placed on the Pop Radio Airplay charts.[6]

Krewella has headlined at EDM festivals around the globe including Ultra Music Festival,[7] Electric Daisy Carnival,[8] Stereosonic[9] and Spring Awakening.[10] These live performances earned the 2012 International Dance Music Award for “Best Breakthrough Artist.”[11]

After their performance at Ultra Music Festival 2013, Billboard declared that "Krewella is going to be huge!" [12] Their debut album "Get Wet," charted in the Top 10 of Billboard's Hot 200 in its first week.[13]
