Julia Goldani Telles (born 18 March 1995, Los Angeles), is an American-Brazilian actress and ballet dancer. She is best known for her role as Sasha Torres on the short lived ABC Family series, Bunheads.

Personal life[edit]

Telles was born in Rio de Janeiro where she lived with her Brazilian mother and Mexican-American father until she was five years old. It was also there that she was introduced to the world of ballet. When the family relocated to New York City, at age 6, Telles could only speak Portuguese[2] and learned English after the family's move. Telles attends Professional Children's School in Manhattan.[3]

She began dancing in Brazil at the age of 5[4] before training professionally at the School of American Ballet and Ballet Academy East. She appeared in numerous ballet performances including Sleeping Beauty, Nutcracker, Don Quixote and Swan Lake. A groin injury at the age of 15 had an important role in her fast success. She was forced to stop practicing ballet for a year, and to avoid depression, she decided to take a drama course. Her agent felt Bunheads should have been one of her first auditions as he felt she would be comfortable with the dancing aspect of the show.[5][6]

Telles briefly attended Windward School in Los Angeles before moving to Princeton, New Jersey after eighth grade.

Career[edit]

Telles' first role in television came in 2011 when she successfully auditioned for the part of Sasha Torres in ABC Family's Bunheads. She did so having never had an acting job before and without head-shots or a résumé.[7] The pilot episode was filmed in November 2011, before being picked up for a 10 episode series which began airing on the 11th June 2012.

As well as Bunheads, Telles also appeared in the Nat & Alex Wolff music video for the song "Greatest Prize"[8] in early 2012.

She also guest starred on Blue Bloods episode "The Bogeyman" which aired Jan 10, 2014
