Jason J. Carter (born August 7, 1975)[1] is an American politician who is a Democratic member of the Georgia State Senate[2] and grandson of former president Jimmy Carter.[3]

Carter is the first member of the Carter family to win elected office since his grandfather, Jimmy Carter, was elected President of the United States.[4]

In the 2010 special election for the 42nd district, Carter received 65 percent of the vote.[5] The seat was vacated by David Adelman, the current United States Ambassador to Singapore.[6]
