Early life

Barrymore was born Ildikó Jaid Makó to a concert violinist mother and an artist father in West Germany.[citation needed] Her parents were Hungarian World War II refugees and she was born in a displaced persons camp in Brannenburg, West Germany, later growing up in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania, in the United States.[1]

Personal life

Barrymore married John Drew Barrymore in 1971, with whom she had a daughter, actress Drew Barrymore. They divorced in 1984. Jaid Barrymore appeared in Playboy magazine in September 1995, eight months after her daughter Drew's pictorial was featured in the magazine. Barrymore, often critized for her frequent club hopping with her then very young daughter at places such as NY's Studio 54, (about 6 years old at the time), has had a long-term tumultuous and difficult relationship with her daughter. Throughout the years she has had cameos and bit parts in movies, mostly after her daughters rise to fame.
