Il comandante, also known as The Commandant, is a 1963 Italian comedy-drama film directed by Paolo Heusch.[1]

Plot summary[edit]

The Commander Antonio Cavalli, after so many years spent fighting in the army and to have commanded some troops of the Italian Army in the Great War and the Second World War, is sent into retirement. But man, accustomed to command of everything and everyone, does not get used to the quiet family life, and so he goes into an office. But Antonio is not paid and his wife secretly spends money, into believing that receives a stipend. When Antonio discovers this depresses him even more and after he gets involved in a scam that threatens to make him go to jail and compromising his high honor of Italian Army General.
