Global TV (officially stylized as GlobalTV) is an Indonesian private television station based in West Jakarta. It is established in early January 1, 1998 and first went on air on January 1, 2001 with MTV programming.

The station airs news and sports such as F1, A1 and it also broadcasts MTV programs and Nickelodeon cartoons regularly.

GlobalTV has 30 transmission sites covering some 200 cities and towns across the country. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Media Nusantara Citra (MNC), which also owns RCTI and MNCTV.

History[edit]

The station began its airdate on January 1, 2002, and it is originally only broadcast MTV Indonesia programs. They are MTV Most Wanted, MTV Land, MTV Ampuh, etc. After 4 years as an MTV broadcaster, exactly on January 15, 2005, Global TV started to produce its own television programs for 12 hours. Its slogan was "Millions of Home Entertainment"

On late January 1, 2005, it was expanded to 18 cities in Indonesia, while Bhakti Investama acquired Viacom Indonesia from Bakrie & Brothers.
