Funk is a village in Phelps County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 194 at the 2010 census.

Geography

Funk is located at 40°27′49″N 99°15′0″W / 40.46361°N 99.25°W / 40.46361; -99.25 (40.463724, -99.249915)[3].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.26 square miles (0.68 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the census[4] of 2010, there were 194 people, 79 households, and 54 families residing in the village. The population density was 737.6 people per square mile (284.8/km²). There were 85 housing units at an average density of 323.2 per square mile (124.8/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 95.9% White, 0.5% Native American, 0.5% from other races, and 3.1% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.5% of the population.

There were 79 households out of which 27.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.5% were married couples living together, 7.6% had a female householder with no husband present, 1.3% had a male householder with no wife present, and 31.6% were non-families. 29.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.46 and the average family size was 3.02.

The median age in the village was 45.6 years. 26.3% of residents were under the age of 18; 5.2% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 17% were from 25 to 44; 33% were from 45 to 64; and 18.6% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the village was 50.5% male and 49.5% female.

As of 2000 the median income for a household in the village was $36,250, and the median income for a family was $43,333. Males had a median income of $22,292 versus $20,833 for females. The per capita income for the village was $15,658. About 7.1% of families and 15.3% of the population were below the poverty line, including 32.7% of those under the age of eighteen and 4.3% of those sixty five or over.
