Life and career[edit]

Mumford, inspired at age seven by a local production of South Pacific, performed in high-school plays and at Olympia's Capital Playhouse.[1]

She graduated in 2009 from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts,[1] She also is an alumnus of the Atlantic Acting School[2] While in college, Mumford starred with Jesse Eisenberg in director Maggie Kiley's well-received short film "Some Boys Don't Leave".[1] She understudied Elisabeth Moss in the Broadway production of Speed the Plow.[3]

Mumford starred as Lena Landry on the ABC paranormal series The River in 2012[4] and on the Fox series Lone Star in 2010, which she was cast in during her first pilot season after graduating college.[5][6] She was the female lead in the Blumhouse Productions feature Not Safe For Work for Universal Pictures.[7] and was the female lead in the indy Drones alongside Matt O'Leary, directed by Rick Rosenthal.[8]

In February 2012, Mumford was cast to play the female lead in an ABC drama pilot titled Reckless.[9] In November that year, she was cast as Anastasia Steele's roommate, Kate Kavanagh in the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey movie.[10]
