Danny Robert Worsnop (born 4 September 1990) is an English musician. He is the lead vocalist of British metalcore band Asking Alexandria.

Danny co-founded the band with lead guitarist Ben Bruce in 2008. The band has released three studio albums, two EP's, one remix album, and one short film. He has worked with artists such as I See Stars, With One Last Breath and Memphis May Fire,[2] providing guest vocals on several songs. He is also in the process of writing a book, as well as recording a solo album.

History[edit]

Early life[edit]

Danny (Robert) Worsnop was born to Sharon and Philip Worsnop on 4 September 1990 at the Beverley Westwood Hospital, East Yorkshire, England. He lived and was brought up in the English countryside in the small village of Gilberdyke, East Yorkshire.[3] He began playing music at the age of six and is able to play the recorder, violin and guitar.[3]

Asking Alexandria (2008–present)[edit]

In 2008, Danny Worsnop met guitarist Ben Bruce in Nottingham, and formed Asking Alexandria. Yet, the two had become friends via the internet prior to meeting in person. The band creator, Ben Bruce, recruited Danny Worsnop, initially, as the rhythm guitarist for the band. However, it was later determined that Worsnop would instead perform as lead vocals.[3] Asking Alexandria's debut album, entitled Stand Up and Scream, was released on 15 September 2009, through Sumerian Records. The album's title is derived from the chorus of the album's second track "The Final Episode (Let's Change the Channel)". The album peaked at 170 on the Billboard 200, 29 on Top Independent Albums, and 5 on Top Heatseekers.[4]

Asking Alexandria's second studio album entitled Reckless & Relentless was released on 5 April 2011, via Sumerian Records. The album's title is derived from the title track "Reckless & Relentless". The album peaked at number 9 on the Billboard 200.[5]

Asking Alexandria's third studio entitled From Death to Destiny was released on 6 August 2013, via Sumerian Records.

Books[edit]

Worsnop has written an autobiography titled "Am I Insane?",[6] which has not been released yet. An excerpt of it was released on 31 July 2013.[6]

Solo career[edit]

Music[edit]

Solo

Worsnop is to be releasing a solo album, however since announcement in 2011, only one song, titled 'Savior' has been released. He also released a 50 second clip of the song Photograph via YouTube.[7] In an interview with Artisan News Service Danny has said that he is expecting to release the album by Easter of 2014.[8] In a Facebook post on 20 December 2013, he also stated that he is working with producer Jay Ruston, and that the album will be released through Sumerian Records.[9]

Harlot

In multiple interviews, he has mentioned a new band project called Harlot, which he has explained that after touring with Asking Alexandria in 2013, he will be touring with this band and release an album, along with his solo album in the near future.[10] Danny has stated that the band is near to completion in the writing process for their debut album entitled "We Are Harlot" and that he will be searching for a producer to work with him on the album on the 21 December of 2013.[9] Short clips of the band recording the album have been released on Youtube.

Photography[edit]

In his biography on his website, he has stated that he is also a photographer and that he will be releasing some of his works on charity auctions at some point in the future.[11] Danny has said in a Facebook post that he is organising an auction for 2014.[9]

Personal life[edit]

Worsnop currently resides in Plano, Texas with girlfriend Myca Gardner.[3]
