Cook Out, Inc. is a fast food privately owned restaurant chain in Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. Founded in Greensboro, the chain has since expanded throughout the state and now has drive-thru restaurants in over seventy cities. Most locations consist of a double drive-thru and outdoor seating. The chain itself has grown in size with many locations now spread throughout Virginia [3] The company's Blacksburg, Virginia location is co-branded with Coffee Out which offers many specialty drinks and is currently the only location to be co-branded as of July 2013.

Cook Out was created by Morris Reaves.[4] He is currently the owner of the company, with his son Jeremy Reaves serving as CEO. As of July 2013 there are 119 locations. The original Cook-Out opened on Randleman Road in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The restaurant specializes in grilled hamburgers and hotdogs (cook-out style), chicken sandwiches, North Carolina barbecue, and milkshakes with a multitude of flavors. Cook Out is also known for having the North Carolina native cherry-flavored soft drink, Cheerwine on tap at all locations.

The company opened its first out-of-state store in Spartanburg, South Carolina, on July 30, 2010.[5] Cook Out opened in Clemson and Orangeburg, South Carolina, in 2010. Plans are in the works for more expansion in South Carolina and Virginia.[6] At the very end of 2011, Cook Out opened restaurants in Columbia, South Carolina; Blacksburg, Virginia; and Radford, Virginia. In March 2012, Cook Out opened its first location in Lynchburg, VA. And shortly thereafter in Harrisonburg, VA.[7] 2013 saw new Cook Out locations in Georgia, and in 2014, there are plans to launch several more Georgia Cook Out locations. [8]
