Colleen Coover (born July 14, 1969) [1 ] is a [2 ] comic book artist, based in Portland, Oregon. She is probably best known as creator of the lesbian-themed erotic comic book Small Favors from Eros Comix, illustrator of the comic book limited series Banana Sunday from Oni Press, and for illustrating several short stories in from X-Men: First Class Marvel Comics. Coover was born in
Iowa. She identifies as bisexual. In a question and answer with comic book website [3 ] Project Fanboy, Coover spoke of her long term involvement with Marvel Comics writer Paul Tobin, whom she met initially at a drama class and would go on to meet again at a local comic book store she regularly frequented. Coover and Tobin were married August 25, 2007. [4 ] [5 ] Career [edit ]
Coover has contributed comic work to
and has done illustration and cover design for various publications, including Out magazine , On Our Backs , Girlfriends , Curve Kitchen Sink, and ; and for publishers including Buckle Down Publishing, Nickelodeon Magazine Alyson Books, Cleis Press, and [6 ] Dark Horse Comics.
She illustrated the
graphic novel Gingerbread Girl. [7 ]
Coover is a member of
Periscope Studio and the Comic Art Collective.
Coover participated in the panels: "Prism Queer Press Grant Portfolio Review", "Love is in the Air: LGBT Romance Comics", and "Women of Marvel" at the San Diego Comic Convention 2009.
