A Class A truck is any combination of vehicles with a GVWR of 26,001 lbs (11,793 kg) or more pounds, provided the GVWR of the vehicle(s) being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds (4536 kg). This is also known as a tractor trailer. A class A truck requires a class A commercial driver's license to operate in the United States. It is the most common of all CDLs as it is the most practical to have.
