Consequently it forms the structure of and has become an inherent part of all of CalUniversity’s online graduate programs. The method is a combination of several learning methods that form a framework based on Maslow's hierarchy of needs and other well known learning techniques.

History[edit]

In 1996, Dr. Senthil B. Kumar established EdNET, a network of IT education, training, and certification centers worldwide with franchise centers in many countries including the U.S, Canada, UK, Norway, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, and India. Between 1998 and 2000, EdNET established educational partnership alliances with Microsoft, IBM, Sun Microsystems, Lotus and CIW[disambiguation needed] to offer Information Technology Certifications, Internet Software Services Training and Certification. Also, the company offered testing services through its network of Authorized Prometric Testing Centers. In 2001, EdNET was partially acquired by a leading training company.

In 2001, Dr. Kumar transformed some of the EdNET Centers into Qsofttraining.net Training Centers. Qsoft offered specialized Microsoft.NET training solutions even before the .NET framework was officially launched in 2002.

In 2002, Qsoft was renamed iUniversity, and offered Global Business Programs, IT Certifications and Management Training Courses. iUniversity, in alliance with Benchmark Online, entered into an International Marketing Associate (IMA) Agreement with the University of Washington to promote Online Executive Certificate Programs. iUniversity was later diversified as California University of Technology. iUniversity, California University of Technology and Benchmark were all corporate initiatives under the parent company iGLOBAL group, an incubation and angel funding company started by Dr. Kumar. iGLOBAL also partnered with American Education Systems, founded in Chicago, Illinois. The management decided to move the institutional operations to California to capitalize on the robust technology environment and cosmopolitanism of the state.

In 2003, California University of Technology was incorporated in the State of California and started its initial operations in the city of West Covina. The founding members were Dr. Michael Zullo, Dr. Richard Allen and Mr. Larry Golda with Dr. Kumar as the President and CEO.

In 2005, the university received California State Approval to grant undergraduate and graduate degrees. Dr. Kumar and Dr. Finian Tan, Chairman of Vickers Financial Group, together as founder and co-founder of the university, have been funding its growth jointly through iGlobal and Vickers Financial Group.

In 2009, CalUniversity was accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC). The Accrediting Commission of DETC is listed by the U.S. Department of Education as a nationally recognized accrediting agency and it is also a recognized member of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation [CHEA].After receiving DETC accreditation, the university changed its name to better reflect its global scope and outreach to the California InterContinental University; its trade name of "CalUniversity" remains in use.
