Raised Jewish, he is active in the Conservative Jewish youth group USY (he was president of his local USY synagogue chapter during his senior year of high school). He is best remembered for voicing the title character of Disney/Pixar's Finding Nemo. On television, Gould played the role of Shane Botwin on the Showtime dramedy series Weeds, as well as guest-starring on such series as Ally McBeal, Malcolm in the Middle, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Supernatural, and Pushing Daisies. He starred as David Collins in the WB remake of the soap opera Dark Shadows, but its pilot episode was rejected by the WB Television Network and never aired.
